The gallery of my first twenty images can be seen here.
I decided to follow Josh around. I figured I could try to capture both his professional life as an ambitious advertising and design student, as well as reveal what he does at home.
The entirety of this first shoot was done downtown and at his school. I had some serious trouble taking photographs inside the school because it was darker than a cave in there.
More interesting, personal images will come in the next round. I hope.

Those are really nice. I think my favorite is the side view of him with the laptop. But there are others I also find very interesting. The one with the mannequin is kind of funny.
ReplyDeleteHey Nicholas,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you didn't spend much time on this. You basically just have 8 pictures here (many of what you're showing are almost the same).
If you're presenting 20-40 images, I'd expect that they are an edited down set from about 200-400 (maybe more). So, it would be good to work harder next time.
Also, if your friend is comfortable with you, just let him do his thing (while you take photos) and don't pose him. Most of these pics feel very staged, which makes them not as strong for this kind of assignment. If it was a portraiture assignment it would be fine, but they don't work as well for storytelling. Although you do have some nice portraits in there.

Sorry. I guess I figured variations of the same idea would count towards the total. I didn't realize we needed 20 completely different shots.
ReplyDeleteThis is hard for me to do. It's the complete opposite of what I do, and what I intend to do in the future. I will try to spice it up for round two though.
